Sessions within your home offer a relaxed vibe and the unique opportunity to not only capture your family as it is, right now, but also your home. I feel our spaces are just as worth documenting as our families. They hold the memories, the melody of your everyday. They welcomed your baby home from the hospital. Held you cozy during the snowstorms. Hosted family, friends, giggles and tears. One day you might not live there anymore. Your kids might not remember it. My goal is that years from now, you will look at your family photos and remember exactly what this chapter felt like.

THE IN-NATURE
WHY I LOVE EM'
Out in nature - kids can expand their creativity, exploration and it shifts how families interact. You have more room to dance and play and throw kids so high in the sky. Nature obviously takes care of the backdrop - we can play by water, roll down hills, have a picnic, get lost in the trees and enjoy a sunset (or sunrise, for the brave!) The world is our oyster, and I love the space nature creates to bring out the fun for everyone. Plus, you don't have to clean your house.

THE CITYSCAPE
WHY I LOVE EM'
I love exploring around East Village, Downtown Des Moines or Valley Junction for these sessions. The architecture and lines of all the buildings offer a layered, modern and visually compelling backdrop. It's a family date night! We can hop around to different shops and get ice cream or hot chocolate as extra motivation - or just window shop while we scoot around. I love the element of including your city into these shoots - often times these are the cities that raised us. We have little memory pockets all around - where you went on your first date, the plant shop on the corner that you got your very first plant for your very first apartment, the building you went to the art show in that changed everything - and to bring your next chapter in alongside the nostalgia is something pretty spectacular.
